Making Scented Soy Candles

Soy candles have been enjoying a immense popularity amongst candle making lovers.

How to make your own soy candles - the guide

For a basic scented or aromatherapy candle you would need at least 1 lb. of soy wax, 1 glass container or jar, 1 oz. essential oil, dye, and wick/s (100% cotton with metal tab). When you buy soy wax from your local crafts store or from any online store, you will most likely be given three choices: soy wax in blocks and in flakes.

While traditional candle makers prefer soy wax in blocks because they get more volume and weight in a tiny package, they highly recommend that you use the flakes form in lieu. Wax flakes are simpler to melt and they are usually simpler to work with. Useful tips on soy candle making

You can melt the soy wax directly using an elderly pan. Place the wax flakes or cubes in the pan and set the stove on low setting. Wait for the wax to liquefy. Usually, the wax needs time to soften and liquefy after the optimum temperature has been reached. When the wax is liquid, add the candle dye and stir. Add the fragrance and stir the wax again. Wait a couple of minutes before pouring the melted candle wax in to the container. Permit the wax to harden adequately before using.
